Ken Anderson & Herb Ryman Imagineered, Herb Ryman Painted. Click on for glorious High Resolution image. |
We almost forgot our DHI Birthday wishes for EPCOT (which is the favorite WDW park of all three members of the DHI troika). With DHI’s background so firmly planted in the old timers of the past (with a special nod to Ken Anderson), what a better way to celebrate Epcot Center’s 30th then by an unrealized World Showcase Pavilion. One that was largely Imagineered and visualized by Ken Anderson and Herbert Ryman (with a lot of great contributions from other talented Imagineers and the likes of Alex Haley). More on this in a future Institute essay (a lengthy one at that, with loads of never-before-seen Imagineering art … our favorite statement here at DHI). Until then, enjoy this fantastic Herby Ryman concept!
Enjoy!
What an awesome painting!
I agree. Herbie could do things with water colors that other great artists could only do with acrylics. So just imagine what he did with the latter … perfect example is this painting. I have seen this painting “in person” and have had my eyes just an inch away for a long time. Amazing. Up close it is just blobs of paint. But take a step back and it is pure magic. (Sorry I am not an artist, and so I can only describe my experience as a historian … but I am just constantly amazed at how incredible his work is). Thanks as always for the comment, and I thoroughly enjoy your blog (one of my daily stops). Paul
