I received quite a few emails about the Dixieland at Disneyland unused advertising art I’ve been posting (see: Dixieland at Disneyland). One question, how come ya’ all (in keeping with the theme) never leave comments? Anyway, I thought I’d post another one here, as I just love this early Disneyland advertising art. To me is just speaks of the enjoyment and excitement that is Disneyland in the early 1960s! Enjoy!
Editor’s Note: Just for the fun, I put this image up as a png, rather than a jpeg. I want to see the difference and how it looks and displays. So I would enjoy hearing from anyone else on what looks best on their system, and any preferences, thoughts, or ideas. As always, thank you!
One thing to remember about PNG – it does not do well with photographs. PNG was designed and optimized for graphics – a replacement for GIF. These formats are ideal for graphic elements, images with large areas of solid color and high contract margins (think text on a background color).
JPEG, while lossy, is extremely efficient at compressing photographs with little or no discernible artifacts. But JPEG can produce artifacts when compressing the kinds of images that PNG/GIF was designed for: large areas of solid color with high contrast margins.
In general for the kinds of resolutions you will probably post on the blog, you are probably better off with JPEG.
Thank you. I kind of noticed that while comparing similar images in png and jpeg. HEY. Paul
